Egg Farmers Care for the Environment

Egg farmers work hard to care for their hens and care for the environment.  Over the last 50 years, advancements in egg farming have led to healthier hens and a reduced environment footprint.   Hens are living longer due to improved nutrition, disease control, and housing while producing 27% more eggs than in 1960!

Farmers continue to implement best practices to better control diseases, improve hen housing, and maintain proper manure management.   Hens consume 26% less daily feed due to increased feed efficiency and 32% less water. At the same time egg farms are using fewer resources and producing less waste with a 71% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since 1960.
